Through Service Learning, I have managed to widen my field of vision, working with people from all walks of life. We went down in groups of five to the Down Syndrome Association (DSA) to help them sell books, that were previously donated, be sorting them out into different categories first. We had a great time over there as we sort through the piles of books. I still remember vividly that we sat down at the void deck sorting through books, which incorporated teamwork and good communication. We also sold ice-creams to teachers and students to raise funds for the DSA. I realized that we should not take things for granted especially things that we have around us. Instead, we should appreciate what we have and be contended about what you have. Though what we have done is little, but at least i know in my heart that i have done my part for the society. This small activity sparked me to become more passionate about the people around me and that we should never despise someone because of their appearance or mental disability.
